Quick start guide

Below are the steps to set up your project. Importing your data and creating your labeling tasks can be done via API. We recommend this approach to iterate quickly and integrate Centaur Labs into your data pipeline. Learn more.

Step 0: Create your account

Sign up for a new account to get started.
If you're on a paid plan, you will receive an email invitation from your project manager. Follow the prompts to create an account.

Step 1: Organize your data

Start by organizing your data. For data that needs to be grouped together (e.g., multiple frames in one video, different contrast levels of the same image), make sure you create a files manifest.

Step 2: Create your project

A project is a collection of data assets that you'll be labeling. From the dashboard, enter your project name, select the data type, and then select Create project. You can also start a new project by selecting the + next to Projects on the left hand sidebar.

Step 3: Create your labeling tasks

Define your task. Select Create a labeling task tab, select the task category and fill out the prompts.
Contact your project manager if your task requires custom set up. Custom set-up is required if:

• The data is not an accepted file type
• The task type is classification with dynamic answer choices

Step 4: Create your instructions

Create your instructions by selecting Add instructions on the Overview tab once in your task. Review instruction best practices and tips.

Step 5: Import your data

Add some data to your project. Navigate to the Data imports tab on your task. Depending on the data type you've selected, you'll have different options for importing your data. Select Add to task to convert the data to cases in your task.

Step 6: Set Gold Standards (optional)

Gold Standards are used as training material for your labeling tasks. To determine which option is best for you, check this page out. Navigate to the Add labels tab to begin creating gold standards.

Upload with CSV
Select Upload with CSV and follow the prompts to format a file that matches origins from your project to the correct answers.

Add one by one
Select Add one by one to create Gold Standards on the Centaur Portal. Select this option to navigate to the Cases tab where you can click into individual cases and set the Correct label.

Add using API
Select Add using API to create the Gold Standards by using Centaur's public API.

Step 7: Inform your project manager

Once these steps are complete, let your project manager know, and they will release the labeling task to our network of experts.
